The "Go and make disciples" part of the great commission is a vital
part of the commission but it is only "A" part. If we are to
complete the commission we must be intentional as we baptize new
believers into the family of God, not mere church membership, and
then "teach them to observe all things". We must "equip the
saints for the work of the ministry". This takes great time, effort,
content knowledge, and most importantly love to disciple a new
believer. Too often someone comes to our services or is presented
the gospel and accepts Jesus Christ as their savior and after a few
week or months we no longer see them n our services and we
arrogantly say, "I guess they were not saved or were not committed."
When the reality is all we have done is asked them to come to
services, attend classes, serve on committees, or help in needed
areas. We tell them to pray with out teaching them how (Luke 11:
1-4). we tell them to make sure to read their Bibles but never teach
them how (2 Timothy 2:2). We tell them all they need is the Holy
Spirit, excusing ourselves from the work, when Paul labored to write
the epistles to instruct the saints (Acts 20:28; 1 Timothy 4:16;
Hebrew 10:24; Phil. 1:25; 1 Cor. 2:7).
C.A.R.E. discipleship is a tool designed to "teach them to
observe all things" as they go and grow in their faith. C.A.R.E.
discipleship is a process consisting of four ten week courses:
These course are designed to train new believers to reproduce
what they are being taught and to fulfill the Great Commission in
their lives. Click on Discipleship Resources the C.A.R.E. courses to learn more about the contents
for each course. |
